INSS queue: how to check when you will be released
The Minister of Social Security met with representatives of medical experts to discuss how to reduce the waiting time for granting benefits from the National Institute of Social Security (INSS). Accessing these benefits requires patience to face the long queue at the INSS, where more than 5 million requests were pending in September of last year, worrying the new government.
These people are waiting to receive retirement, pensions, aid and benefits that, in most cases, correspond to a minimum wage and are the source of income for many policyholders. The queue size is due to problems in processing requests, with the automated system of the website and application generating a greater number of denied requests.
These denials are not always justified, which means that people have to make new requests and wait even longer to start receiving the benefit. The Ministry of Social Security considers the optimization of analyzes as a priority to reduce the queue.
INSS queue
Applications for granting INSS benefits are analyzed both by employees of the agency and by robots, using artificial intelligence. Since the implementation of the system, there has been an increase in the number of requests that are automatically rejected.
The lack of precision and information in social security systems has led to an increase in the number of citizens who need to file appeals to prove their right to benefits, instead of being approved directly. In addition, during the pandemic, the process took even longer, accumulating long waiting times.
According to the legislation, the maximum period for the INSS to analyze each request must be 45 days, however, currently, citizens are facing waits of months, and even exceeding 1 year without a response. After 45 days have passed without granting, the INSS is obliged to correct the amount when the benefit is finally released.
What will happen to the INSS queue?
On Tuesday (17), the Minister of Social Security, Carlos Lupi, met with representatives of medical experts to discuss the new management's strategy, bearing in mind that reducing the INSS waiting list is one of the main priorities of the folder. During the meeting, the minister emphasized the importance of the category of medical experts for reducing the queue for granting benefits.
Medical examinations are essential for the release of disability pensions, sickness allowances and Continuous Provision Benefits (BPC), as they verify the applicant's state of health in relation to serious illnesses, disabilities and inability to carry out work activities.
Carlos Lupi spoke about the need to carry out a complete diagnosis to identify the current condition of the structure and the accumulated demands. The objective is to promote the integration of the social security areas. According to him, the initial measures that will be adopted will be able to generate a reduction in the time for approval of requests from future insured persons.
