New digital RG: how to have yours
In 2022, a new identification document was announced for Brazilians, called the New RG Digital, which will be integrated into the CPF and will have the acronym CIN (Carteira de Identidade Nacional). The objective is to standardize registration in all states of the country and put an end to the current system, where each state issues its own RG number.
With this change, the number used will be the citizen's Individual Taxpayer Registration (CPF) number instead of the identity registration number.
Despite many comments on the subject, most Brazilians still do not know what was defined in Decree n. 10,977/22, which brings some details about the norms of the new version of the RG. So far, not all Brazilian states are issuing documents in the new format. However, states that have not yet started to issue new digital RGs have until March 6 to adapt to the new rules and start issuing documents. Furthermore, Brazilians do not have to pay to access their new identity card. The New Digital RG will be the official document used in Brazil.
In addition, the new digital RG also brings a series of benefits to citizens. The document will be more secure, as it will have a series of security measures, such as an electronic signature, digital certificate and facial recognition. This ensures that the document is more difficult to forge or clone.
Another advantage is the possibility of accessing public services more quickly and easily. With the new digital RG, citizens will be able to access services such as passport issuance, driver's license, military enlistment and others without having to go to the responsible bodies.
In addition, the new digital RG will also make life easier for citizens who need to prove their identity in public and private services. With the use of the CPF as the document number, it will be easier for people to prove their identity and carry out financial transactions, for example.
In summary, the new digital RG is an evolution in the identification system for Brazilians. With the standardization of registration in all states, the document will be safer and will facilitate access to public and private services. In addition, it is important to remember that issuing the new RG is completely free for citizens.
How it works?
Citizens will now have access to various information in the new National Identity Card. This includes full name, date of birth and parentage. This is considered to be a very effective method of identifying an individual within the country. Documentation is issued on paper and also in digital form.
– Digital version of the document made available via the Gov.br portal.
– Confirmation of authentication by QR code;
– Inclusion of various basic information, such as blood type, organ donation and social name.
– The new document must also include the name of the State in which it was issued, in addition to the Secretariat of Public Security or identification service used.
The new RG digital model complies with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which defines international standards for issuing documents. This is because the RG Digital also works as a travel document, as it contains an international standard code called MRZ (Machine Readable Zone), which is also used in passports.
Currently, Brazil only has agreements with Mercosur countries regarding the use of identification documents at immigration posts. Other countries still require the traveler to present a passport.
Validity
The validity of the new document is 10 years for Brazilians aged up to 60 years. If you are 60 or older, the old model of the General Registry (RG) will continue to be valid indefinitely.
